The class formed into groups of three students. The
Quest required a strong reader, Internet navigator and one student that became
the groups' recorder.
The girls enjoyed assisting the first grade students in using their Quest!
Terrific Maine Trees Quest
The first grade groups worked together to find the answers to the quest's questions and filled out a sheet provided. The Tech-no Teens noticed that the students could use a formatted worksheet to ease the task of recording answers. The sheet provided was lacking in structure, so they created the "New Worksheet" and have it downloadable from their Quest. It is a PDF file.

They worked on step 5 in their classroom, writing a poem. Students can use pencil and paper or use word processing software to create their poems.
Step 4, the tree (bark) rubbing was done at a later date in the school yard using masking tape, paper and wax crayons.
The first graders learned to read and respond to informational text, how to use the Internet and about trees in the Maine forest!
