Read up to page 82 of The Things They Carried

Bring your working rough draft of the Growing Up paper

Have three of the Vietnam articles (Nixon's, LBJ's, and Newsweek) read for today.

Do the third  SAT practice quiz on-line for today (sentence completion)

Reminder:  tomorrow, Tuesday, is the last day to hand in the rewrite of the argument paper.

Wednesday, Sept. 24

Read to page 164 of The Things They Carried

Read the McCarthy article (pages 141-144 only in packet).

Second draft of Growing Up paper is due (with folder) for grade

We will review the first three sentence completion SAT practice quizzes in class to get ready for Friday's SAT quiz.

You will do the first passage based on-line SAT quiz for Monday.

Tuesday, Sept. 30

Do SAT prep. "Passage Based Reading Quiz #1"

Rewrite of Growing Up paper is due by Friday.

Select your free topic book if you are not using The World is Flat for ITGS or

The Bottomless Well for physics

We will review questions on The Things They Carried and go over the free choice book project (models, rubrics, due dates, etc.)

Thursday, October 2

SAT prep:  Do Passage Based Reading Quiz #2 for today.

Progress Reports

Test on The Things They Carried:   the test will consist of close readings of quotes, explanations of significant quotes, and short answer questions on the content and style of writing.

Monday, October 6

Passage Based Reading Quiz #3 for today (SAT on-line).

Homework for Oct. 6:  continue reading your free choice book.  Select the passage that you will use for your oral presentation and begin collecting textual evidence for your book review.

We will meet with producer Jim Sadwith during block 2.

Block 3 will work on their free topic books (reading, orals, and reviews) during class.
