100's Chart (Gr. K-8) - An interactive 100's chart that help students count as well as display multiples of any number entered.

Alkanes & Isomers (Gr. 10-12) - Created by Adrian Deakin, a high school chemistry teacher from Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada, this lesson is designed to introduce students to Saturated Aliphatic Hydrocarbons.  Names and structures for the first ten alkanes are provided.  See the attachments section for curriculum connections and a lab worksheet.

Answer Sandwich (Gr. 4-8) - Created by Ben Hazzard, host of the SMART Board Lessons Podcast, this lesson reinforces the steps students need to use when answering questions in an essay format.  Slides include examples of sequence words, similarities, differences, details and closing phrases.  See the attachments section for worksheet templates.


Basic French Clothing Lesson (Gr. 5-8) - Created by Kerri Martin, an educator from Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada, this lesson aims to improve students oral French fluency.  Four slides contain a student getting dressed for school, but only the appropriate clothing can be worn.  Two additional slides ask students to match clothing vocabulary with the appropriate clipart.


Birds: A French Immersion Lesson (Gr. 5-8) - Created by Martine Blanchet, an educator from Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada, this lesson is designed to immerse students in the study of birds.  Learn how different birds have different beaks, feathers, feet, eyes and so forth.  Many of the slides have web links built into the text/images to sites with information, sounds and more.


Book Review (Gr. 6-8) - Created by Mary Hebert, an English teacher from Kennebunk, use this lesson to show students how to put some "SPARK" into their book reviews and reports.


Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Letter Match (K-1) - Created by Peter Dawson, a Kindergarten teacher from Canada, this activity introduces students to the alphabet and letter sounds.  Students click on a letter to hear it pronounced, then must drag the lower case letter to its upper case counterpart.

Fractions (1-8) - An introductory activity where students use shapes and shading to calculate the fraction.  There are 9 pages worth of templates to choose from.

Insects (K-3) - This activity is divided into three parts:
1~Find all of the insects in the picture provided
2~Identify & label the three major parts of an insect
3~Explore related websites in the attachments section to learn about honey bees and other insects

The Jena Six (Gr. 9-12) - Created by Jen Coty, an English Teacher from Kennebunk, this activity asks students to compare life in 1957 with that of the present.

Jeopardy [Template] (K-12) - This is a template file that can be customized to fit any topic.  Each value is a clickable link to a page for the "answer" and then the "question" page.  There are two Daily Doubles and a Final Jeopardy component to the file, including a Score Card at the end.


Jeopardy [Literary Analysis] (Gr. 6-8) - Adapted by Mary Hebert, an English teacher from Kennebunk, this activity uses the popular quiz show game to help students practice vocabulary.  Each value is linked to a question page with multiple choice answers.

Jim Crow Laws (Gr. 9-12) - Created by Jen Coty, an English Teacher from Kennebunk, this activity looks at the history of segregating people based on the color of their skin.

Lord of the Flies Characterization (Gr. 9-12) - Created by Jen Coty, an English Teacher from Kennebunk, this activity looks at the three elements of characterization as they apply to the novel by William Golding.

Matter (Gr. 1-5) - For each box, decide if the object is a solid, liquid, or gas.  Then drag the box to the side to see the answer.  A link to a BrainPOP movie & quiz is provided in the attachments section.


Measures Mayhem! (Gr. 6-12) - Created by Tom Barrett, An interactive board game that asks students to convert various types of measurements (i.e. volume, length, weight, time).  Students need to record their moves on the score sheet provided.  An interactive dice is also provided.  Feel free to add/modify rules to customize the game for your agenda.

Memorial Day Word Search (K-12) - A simple word search with Memorial Day vocabulary to display on a SMART Board.


Multiplication Mayhem! (Gr. 6-12) - Created by Tom Barrett, a math teacher from England, this interactive board game is designed to help students practice their multiplication skills.  The game is based on the roll of two dice; one dice moves each player piece along the outer board, the other dice moves the pink chip along the inner board.  Students must then multiply the two numbers together and then record their result on the score sheet provided.  Feel free to add/modify rules to customize the game for your agenda.

Of Mice & Men (Gr. 9-12) - Created by Jen Coty, an English Teacher from Kennebunk, this lesson reviews the important facts from the novel by John Steinbeck.

Online Safety (Gr. 5-12) - Created by Ben Hazzard, an educator from Ontario Canada and co-host of the SMART Board Podcast, this lesson introduces concepts to help promote group discussions and debate about the dangers of socializing via the Internet.

Planet Layers (1-5) - Choose between two activities:
1~for each layer, fill in the blank with the appropriate name
2~Drag the appropriate layer name to the diagram provided

Plant Identification (K-5) - For the first two slides, drag the appropriate terms onto the image provided.  For the last two slides, use the spotlight tool to review the four basic parts of a plant.  A BrainPOP movie & quiz is provided in the attachments section.

Poetry Activities (3-6) - Created by Gale Walker, a 5th grade teacher from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, this activity uses a variety of techniques and styles to teach poetry.  Create rhyming word lists, story poems and more with these templates.  Templates are designed to work with activities found at www.PoetryTeacher.com.

The Revolution Begins (Gr. 9-12) - Created by Shannon LeBlanc, a History teacher from Kennebunk, this activity discusses the events that lead up to the American Revolution.  Combine this lesson with an online activity from PBS: The Road to Revolution.  The link is provided within the lesson.  NOTE:  Follow up with a Senteo assessment quiz, which is provided in the Senteo section.

The Sun, Moon, and Stars (K-5) - This activity relies on web resources for images and interactive movies via BrainPOP to explore the characteristics of these three celestial objects.

Africa Map Identification (Gr. 5-8) - Created by Tom Taylor, a Social Studies teacher from Kennebunk, this assessment asks students to label various African countries with their proper names.  This is a multiple choice assessment.


Carbon Dating (Gr. 5-8) - Created by Tom Taylor, a Social Studies teacher from Kennebunk, this assessment asks students to determine whether an object contains carbon or not.  This is an either/or assessment.


Chapter 1 Review (Gr. 6-8) - Created by Sheila Wells, a Mathematics teacher from Kennebunk, this assessment asks students to demonstrate prior knowledge and understanding of mathematical concepts.  Geometry and algebra concepts dominate this assessment.  Questions are multiple choice or numerical answer.


Chapter 2 Review (Gr. 6-8) - Created by Sheila Wells, a Mathematics teacher from Kennebunk, this assessment asks students to demonstrate their knowledge and comprehension of basic pre-algebra concepts.  Expressions, graphs, positive & negative numbers and order of operations are covered in the quiz.  Questions are multiple choice or numerical answer.


Decimals Review (Gr. 6-8) - Created by Sheila Wells, a Mathematics teacher from Kennebunk, this "quick" assessment asks students to demonstrate a basic understanding of decimals.  Questions are multiple choice or require a numerical answer.


 

To Kill a Mocking Bird (Gr. 9-12) - Created by Jen Coty, an English Teacher from Kennebunk, this Senteo assessment activity covers vocabulary used in the novel by Harper Lee.  All questions are multiple choice.

Moon's Cycles (Gr. 2-5) - Created by Stacy Schatzabel, a grade 3 teacher from Kennebunk, this assessment covers position, pattern and appearances of the moon.  The quiz consists of 5 questions using multiple choice and True/False formats.

 



Nouns Quiz (Gr. 5-8) - Created by Mary Hebert, an English teacher from Kennebunk, this Senteo assessment activity looks at the proper use of nouns.  Questions include plural vs. singular, punctuation and types of nouns.  All questions are multiple choice.


Online Quiz Template (Gr. 5-12) - Created by Sheila Wells, a Mathematics teacher from Kennebunk, this assessment template was designed to integrate with questions found on a textbook website.  Each question is multiple choice and answers are set as "opinion" so that it can be easily applied to whatever subject and questions are asked.

Writing Traits Scoring (Gr. 6-8) - Created by Mary Hebert, an English teacher from Kennebunk, this formative assessment activity asks students to read various pieces of writing (found online) and rate them based on one of the six traits of writing.  Some pieces are rated more than once but on different writing traits.  Each slide contains a scoring guide for students to refer to.
