School Volunteer Pledge

Thank you for allowing our class time to work together before volunteering.  We work hard at becoming a community of learners the first six weeks of school before we like to have volunteers in the classroom. 

Besides the occasional field trip chaperone, there are many opportunities to volunteer in the classroom.  Each opportunity assists the children in different ways.  You can volunteer as often or as little as what works with your schedule.    I appreciate this effort, and I rely heavily on volunteers to create an outstanding educational program for all of our children.

It is important as a volunteer that you are aware of a regulation that is to be followed in school by everyone – staff and volunteers.  The Family Rights and Privacy Act protect the confidentiality of information about students.  This act makes it very clear that academic, behavioral or any other information received at school is not be discussed or shared in writing without parental permission. 

As a volunteer on a field trip,  you may observe or hear things about students, which fall under the protection of the Family Rights and Privacy Act.  We expect that you will not discuss information you may hear with any other volunteer, parent, or person outside of the school.  If you feel it is necessary, you may discuss this with myself, but remember I may not be able to give you all the information that I know because of the same reason. 

As a school volunteer, please sign this notice to indicate that you have been notified of this expectation.   Again, we thank you for your time and effort.

Writer's Workshop - available to assist writer's during writing time

Laminating, Clerical Work - at your convenience

Make at Home  - at your convenience

Field Trip Chaperone - when needed

Please remember that this is a working document and can be adjusted if necessary.
