April News

S

pring is really going to arrive this month but in the interim the playground is very muddy.  A change of clothes in your child’s backpack and boots each day are most helpful!

Conferences are being scheduled in the office.  Please call to reserve your time!  I am looking forward to talking about your child’s progress!

It has been great learning about dinosaurs.  Students are working really hard and are learning a lot!  There is always great enthusiasm for this topic!  If you need any more assistance finding information for your report, please let me know.  We have looked in the class, at Consolidated Library and at Graves Library so hopefully, your child has enough information to proceed.

We are down to our last box of tissues in the class and would appreciate any donations. A student in our class is asking that we do not purchase tissues from Kimberly Clark (Scott, Kleenex, Scott, Viva, Puffs and Cottonelle-Huggies and Kotex, also) because they cut down the old growth trees in the boreal forest to make these tissues.  The trees are home to animals, help global warming and cannot be replaced quickly.  It is the North American version of cutting down the rainforest.  She and her mom have presented this to the class and the class agreed that they want to do this and present it at Friday morning meeting.  It would be great to support her and purchase other tissues and paper products.  Earth First, Seventh Generation, Green Forest and Marcal tissues do not do this.  More information can be found on www.greenpeace.org/schools

We will be having a clean up morning in the classroom on Saturday, April 12th beginning at 9.  Please come if you can so that we can spiff up the classroom for the accreditation visit that week!  Thank you! I really appreciate your help!            JNancy J
