It was great to meet with you at conferences and talk about your child’s progress this year. I know we talk throughout the year but it is nice to get together and meet. Can you believe that we are already 2/3 of the way through the school year? It always goes so fast. But, do not hesitate to contact me throughout the remainder of the year, if you have any questions or concerns. I truly believe we are a team working together for what is best for your child.
We are about to embark on a two week unit on Simple Machines. After that, we will be designing and building land yachts to race against one another and then the top three in our class will race against the top three in Mrs. Boyd’s class. We will first design the simple machines and then we will actually build them. Any parent handy with tools would be very welcome in the class to assist students during this building phase. I would expect it to be a couple of hours in the afternoon. If you would like to help, please let me know and let me know what afternoon is best for you. I will try to work our schedules together for the best possible fit.
Next month, we will spend a lot of time studying about the US and comparing it to Mexico. If anyone has ever been to Mexico and would like to share any artifacts you may have brought back or pictures, it would be a wonderful addition to the curriculum. Let me know.
The vote for the budget is in early May. Please make it a priority to get out and vote on that day.
It gets harder in the spring time for students to stay focused on their school work and to do their homework. This is the time where they really need their parents to step in and make sure they have time to do their reading and math homework. Please make sure there is some time in this busy season that your child can focus on his/her homework. Thank you.
Thank you for all your support and kind words over conferences. I appreciate it very much. Nancy
What is a blog?
A blog is short for web log and is an online journal posted chronologically.
Why do you need to know this? Consolidated School is going to pilot a new format that will give you weekly snippets into the classroom on a blog.
Each teacher is working on their blog and will take the place of some web pages. I have a lot of information on my web page so I will continue to update that and keep information on those sites and I will put weekly entries and some links to
I have been working on mine and I plan to write a short paragraph each week about what is happening in the classroom. I will also have links to my web page and to my monthly newsletters. A blog is not really fancy. It is more like a continuous online journal that I can put postings up for you to read.
Please feel free to give me feedback on what you think of this new communication tool. It should be up and running in the middle of this month. Check it out at http://www.kport.org/Naimey/ Let me know what you think. Nancy
