"Happy New Year 2009"

 

Kindergarten will have a visit from Sparks Ark this month. In computer lab we will finish Travel with Timmy (passports will go home). We will then begin EveryDay Math Early Childhood games - in the lab and in the classroom!

FYI: Registration for next year's kindergarten 2009/2010 will be held on Friday, January 25th??? at Consolidated School.

 

First Grade will focus on diversity, weather and Maine mammals. We will begin research on our chosen Maine mammal to study soon!

Second Grade in science we are to begin our study on Force and Motion as per the new Science Companion.  Lots of hands-on activities will be enjoyed.

Our literature-connection will be Snowflake Bentley. We continue to enjoy learning about other countries through our parents that come to visit, and to do a follow-up activity.

Multi First/Second Grade

In science we are to begin our study on Force and Motion as per the new Science Companion.  Lots of hands-on activities will be enjoyed. We will also have a focused unit on the calendar, Antarctica and penguins this month.

Our literature-connection will be Snowflake Bentley.

We continue to enjoy learning about other countries through our parents that come to visit. We have received many Flat Stanleys and are learning about the different states and countries that they come from.

Third Grade  MLK activities, Ben Franklin, biomes study begins, reading Stone Fox by John Reynolds Gardiner and late in the month a head start on February's Black History Month study.

 

 
Fourth Grade  will begin their study on our great state of Maine!
In computer lab, we are searching for Maine facts and pictures. We will then create a slideshow presentation using the iMacs and Keynote software.

 

 

  Multi Fourth/Fifth Grade 
Mr. Chapman's class are working on US landmarks, creating a brochure on their individual landmark and on their corresponding speech.

 

Fifth Grade are working on poems in the computer lab using Microsoft Publisher. We are also practicing our math facts using the Every Day Math Game program.

We begin our "River Project" this month!
