I Spy

By: Mr. Chapman's 4/5 multi grade and Mrs. Cmaylo's 1st grade.


The multi grade and first grade classes created their first book together!

  1. Students read books together and discussed "fun" books. The classes then voted on I SPY as their favorite format.
  2. Students planned their book outline by working in pairs and taking one page per-pair of students. Students planned to bring small items from home for their page.
  3. Students placed items on white paper in a pleasing way. Students (big & little buddies both) took many images with the digital camera, keeping in mind where their light source was, how to include all items, etc.
  4. Students selected their best (picture) image, printed it and glued it to card stock.
  5. Students, worked together to write and edit the text of their page in the classroom and then moved to the computer lab. Using Word, the students typed, printed, then added the text to their page.
  6. Our volunteer, Mrs. Oransky, laminated the pages so our book will last forever!
