MUSIC VARIETY PACK

 Students in this class are currently studying the history of jazz beginning with Ragtime music.  We began our study with the song that students hear coming from the ice cream truck.  Did you know that the real name of that song is "The Entertainer" composed by a famous African American named Scott Joplin?

Students with be studying various forms of jazz music as they have evolved throughout history.  We will investigate historical influences on the development of jazz from its roots to present day.

Students will use technology to keep a collaborative notebook of highlights from each form of jazz.  In addition, students will create a timeline synthesizing the information discovered through our investigation

Eighth Grade

     We are currently on a musical world tour.  We have explored the beginnings of music and have set off for the Asian continent to discover the traditional musical instruments, watch and hear performances of traditional music, explore the musical scale used ny Asian cultures and experiment with creating our own Asian inspired music.
