Pottery is offered as a semester course and is designed for the student wishing to expand his/her knowledge and experiences in 3-D pottery design. Students will learn the vocabulary, processes and skills necessary to create meaningful and expressive works in clay. Both utilitarian and decorative hand building processes will be explored with particular emphasis placed upon surface design techniques such as stamping, wax resist, incising, carving, glazing and sgraffito, etc. In addition, wheel-throwing instruction will be available to all students enrolled in the pottery program.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Art Foundations with a grade of B- or better, and/or instructor’s permission.
