MAKING YOUR ART WORK

Do you find yourself sketching or doodling on notebooks, schoolbooks, phonebooks, or anything else within arm’s reach? Have you been drawing for years or do you simply want to be better at it? Whatever the answer is, if you like to draw, this class is for you. Designed for students of all ability levels, this class offers a personalized, in-depth art experience with emphasis placed on Realism and creating works from observation. Building upon prior art knowledge and skills, you will learn new methods for creating dynamic drawings and developing your own creative style. Some subjects to be explored will include, but not be limited to: portraiture, still-life and figure drawing. In addition, there will be opportunities for drawing on location within and beyond the walls of Kennebunk High School. Elements of Art History, Criticism and Matting/Presentation of artwork will be included as well.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Art Foundations with a B- or better, and/or instructor’s permission.
