The Art Foundations Honors course is designed to allow the exceptional art student a more intensive, personalized art experience at the foundations level. Students learning the language of the visual arts will hone their critical thinking skills through critiques of their own art and the works of others. Emphasis will be placed not only on the learning and application of specific skills, techniques and processes but also on the elements and principles of art and composition. In addition, studies will include art history as well as the matting and presentation of artworks. Throughout the course, students will be challenged and encouraged to discover and develop their own modes of personal expression in response to specific visual arts problems.
