Matthew Murray

      Matthew Murray is Choral Director and Music Theory Teacher at Kennebunk High School in Kennebunk, Maine.  During his time in Kennebunk he spent five years split between KHS and the Middle School of the Kennebunks. He also spent a brief period of time at York Middle School in York, Maine. 
    Mr. Murray holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree with a voice major and trumpet minor from the University of Maine under the tutelage of Dr. Dennis Cox and is currently a candidate for a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Southern Maine under Dr. Robert Russell. 
  
Mr. Murray served from 2000-2003 as District I Chairperson for the Maine Music Educators Association (MMEA).  He has also been honored to conduct several district and regional sixth grade, middle school, and high school honors choirs in Maine and New Hampshire.  Mr. Murray has served as Choral Director for the Southern Maine Junior High Music Academy and is currently the Choral Director at the Southern Maine String Academy.  Additionally, he has served as Choral Manager for the MMEA District I High School Music Festival several times and for the York County Junior High Music Festival in 2001. Under his direction, the Kennebunk High School Chamber Choir has been the featured performance ensemble at the Maine Principals Association Fall Conference, the MMEA In-service Conference and the York County Retire Teachers Association Spring Meeting. 
  
Mr. Murray is a native of Greenville, Maine and currently resides in Scarborough with his wife, Catherine, daughter Emily (5) and son Ryan (3).
