Get Familiar with Your Island

Purpose:  To use information from the description of "Paradise Island" to create an appropriate habitat.

Procedure:

1. After reading the task, devise a new name for your Island.  Base the name on any characteristic of the island, and be prepared to explain your reasoning.

2.  Study the island description.  Invent a shape for the island, being carefully not to make it larger than 25 square miles in area.  Using paper or Keynote draw a map of your island.  Use latitude and longitude to show its location, and include all of the land features that match the description.  Include a scale giving the relationship from your map to the real island, and a legend to explain any symbols you use (like the symbol: ^ for mountains).

3.  (Optional)  You may provide some pictures of various locations around your island using photos of your choice or those found at the EBS website.
