MARY HEBERT Mary Hebert is a 7th grade Master Level Language Arts Teacher at the Middle School of the Kennebunks in Kennebunk, Maine. She has taught ages 1 to 91 for 25 years including the following subjects: English, French, College Writing, ESL, Education for Adults, and Toddling Tots. Mary attended Colby College, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude in 1978. In 2003 she was recognized as a finalist for Maine Technology Teacher of the Year for ACTEM. In 2005, Mary was selected as a Fulbright Memorial Fund Scholar for an intensive 3-week study period in Japan. Read her Japan Journey Journal here, or see her book Hai Means Yes! (blurb bookstore) to learn more about this incredible experience. In 2007 Mary was honored as the Senior Graduation Class "Most Favorite Teacher." Currently, she is enrolled in the Educational Leadership Graduate Program at the University of Southern Maine. Mary lives in Kennebunk with her husband of 28 years, Don. She has 2 sons, Scott and Brian, and 2 pets, Colby and Kit. Together with her family, she enjoys the sports of snowboarding, hiking, running, swimming, and tennis. Mary particularly enjoys competing in snowboarding, recently placing 3rd in Halfpipe and Boardercross at the National Snowboarding Championships in Northstar at Lake Tahoe, California.
