I-SEARCH PAMPHLET
student pamphlets

BACKGROUND:
Students have learned how to research a topic of their own choosing.
After filling out a
KWL form, they have taken notes, created an outline, and made a Works Cited.
Now it's time to design a
brochure using AppleWorks on your ibook laptops.

TASK:
Create an attractive and informative brochure that showcases your research.

AUDIENCE:
Your classmates, the public

PURPOSE:
To share, teach, or explain your research findings.

PROCEDURE:
1. Make a rough draft called a "mock-up."

2. Set up Page 1 on an Appleworks document by turning the page landscape, adding 3 columns, and setting the margins to .3 inches.

3. Use only 2 styles of fonts.  Recommended size for text =10 -14, headings 18-24.
(A much larger font for your title on the cover is recommended - size 48-60)

4. Learn how to use the text box tools, and how to insert pictures and graphics from your files and the internet
(don't forget credit - list the urls under the picture in a small font - or list the url in your Works Cited.)

5.  Add page 2 by hitting the enter button on the bottom row of your keypad.

6. Follow your mock-up plan, making adjustments where necessary.

7.  After self-editing your writing, print a black & white draft and get a peer edit and a teacher edit.

To save paper, this step can be done via PDF.  (Go to PRINT - SAVE AS PDF)

8.  Print your FINAL DRAFT back-to-back. FILE- PRINT - MAINE LAB COLOR PRINTER - LAYOUT (scroll bar under copies & pages) - TWO-SIDED SHORT EDGE BINDING - PRINT.

9. Fill out ASSESSMENT

10. Fold and admire your beautiful work! Pass in brochure and assessment.

WHAT'S NEXT? Prepare your presentation/visual.
