Part II (50 Points) Choose any ONE of the following questions to answer about your fiction short story. 

1.  Create a new character.  Include a name and physical description.  Tell how this new character would interact with other characters in the novel and possibly change the outcome. 

2.  Imagine that you are the author and your editor has told you the ending is not satisfactory.  Rewrite the ending, describing the changes you would make.

3.  Analyze why this book/short story will or will not be read 100 years from now. Consider both the content (issues, topics) of the book and the writing style.  Be careful with this question.. . you must discuss the writer’s style.  Even if the topic is important, if the writing is not good enough to “stand the test of time”, it will not become a classic.

4.  Assess the author's writing style.  Observe vocabulary, sentence style, literary devices and use of dialogue..

5.  Create a poem or song that relates to the conflict in the book. 

6.  Design a logo that could be used to market this novel.  Explain why you developed this design and how it relates to the novel.

7.  Make a list of ten new or unusual words or phrases.  Provide definitions or explanations.

8.  Research  the author’s background. Write a paragraph telling what you discovered.  Be sure to list the source where you found your information.      

9.  Create a map or illustration based on the setting in the short story.

10. Write a newspaper article that pertains to an event in the short story.

11. Explain how the main character is developed by the author.  What traits are emphasized to make this character "real"?  Does the character change from the beginning to the end? Explain how.
