Writer's Craft Procedures
"How can I know what I think until I see what I say?" E.M. Forster

1. Look over the craft options or choose one of your own.
2. You must write at least a full, typed page, 12 font, 1.5 spacing, regular margins.
3. Spell-check.
4. Print and proofread. Using a pencil or pen or 'track changes', revise using the 6 trait guidelines. Now fill out the 6-trait checklist.
5. At the bottom of the checklist answer the following questions:
A.) Why do you like (or dislike) this piece of writing?
B.) What is the best aspect of this piece of writing? Give an example.
C.) What is the one aspect of this piece of writing upon which you could improve?
6. Instead of choosing a different craft topic each week, you may continue with a piece of writing on which you've been working, or you can revise (in a substantial way) a previous craft. If you choose this last idea, include both the original and the revised draft.
