Information:
v
The Apple iBook and carrying case issued to
you is the property of the State of Maine, registered to The Middle
School of the Kennebunks. They are assigned to the student.

Teachers will have administrative controls
so that at any time a teacher may "look" at what a student has on
his/her computer and may actually freeze it or even "take over" the
student's computer.
v
The issuance of an iBook to each student is
a privilege, not a right. This privilege can be revoked.
v
The MLTI(Maine
Learning Technology Initiative) is about teaching and learning.
The laptop will be a tool that can take students to a higher level of
overall educational literacy.
v
A laptop and carrying case will be issued to
you during homeroom.
v
Recharging your laptop will take place in
your homeroom. This will generally occur during non-instructional time
for example, at the end of each school day, school field trips,
weekends, and throughout school vacations.
v
Each student’s password is recorded and will
be held in confidence among school personnel. Parents and
guardians are entitled to their child’s password.
v
The storage case has a clear display area
where you can position your Laptop License. The luggage tag must contain
the school’s name, address, and phone number, your first and last name,
team name, homeroom teacher’s name and room number.
Care of your
laptop:
v
Keep all food and drinks away from your
computer.
v
Your laptop should be in your possession or

Your laptop should never be left
unattended (during lunch, in the locker room, before/after school,

v
If you are “accidentally” linked to an
inappropriate web site, you should report it immediately. Please close
the site, but note the date and time of this accident on the back of
your Laptop License.
v
Visiting inappropriate sites may result in a
loss of Internet privileges.
E-mail Rules,
Reminders, and Guidelines:
v
When working on another computer, you can
e-mail assignments between home and school. Documents are easily
transferred between Microsoft Word and Appleworks.

E-mails can be monitored.
v
Any inappropriate use of your e-mail may
result in your e-mail privileges being taken away for a period of time.
Laptop
Permit/License:
v
Once the Laptop Guidelines are signed and
returned to MSK, each student will receive a Laptop Permit. This
will enable each student to utilize the laptops while learning about
laptop care, practicing saving/printing protocol, and exploring the
available applications.
