GATES Services

at K-3 Level

 

 

Overview

 

K-3 GATES services are provided in 2 ways.  The first method is consultation between classroom teachers and GATES staff and the second service is delivered by the GATES staff member in all third grade classrooms.  The following is the programming currently being delivered to MSAD 71 K-3 students.

 

GRADES K-2

 

    CONSULTATION

 

        Consultation is performed on a regular basis.

 

                        May look like...

                                    -providing/planning enrichment activities

                                    -discussion of individual student learning needs

                                    -helping classroom teachers develop differentiated lessons

                                    -supporting teachers/students with appropriate materials

 

                                      

GRADE 3

                        

    CONSULTATION

       

        Consultation is performed on an as needed basis. 

 

                        May look like...

                                    -providing/planning enrichment activities

                                    -discussion of individual student learning needs

                                    -helping classroom develop differentiated lessons

                                    -supporting teachers/students with appropriate materials

 

    ENRICHMENT

 

                           May look like...

      Everyday Math games – advanced versions

      pre-testing/compacting curriculum

      math center support

      literacy center support

      whole class problem solving

      whole class creative writing based on 6 + 1 Traits

      literacy discussions

      challenge folders/independent work

 

   TEAM TEACHING

 

                        May look like...

                                    -Planning and teaching math or reading lesson

 

    DIFFERENTIATION DEMONSTRATION AND SUPPORT

 

                        May look like...

                                    -mini-lessons in classroom

                                    -center creation

                                    -provide materials/ideas for teachers to differentiate
